If a wine has more than 30 grams per liter of residual sugar in it, it’s considered “sweet.” Sweet wine is produced from sweet grapes. The fermentation is stopped before the yeast converts all grape sugars into alcohol, and methods of reducing water to residual sugar ratios, like sun drying, are used to harness the sweetness of the fruit. Resulting in wines that are sweetened with natural grape sugars.
